Conceived as the contraction of ROMA and DRAMA, the DROMA studio show is a studio hanging that Théo Mercier organizes at the Villa Medicis in dramatic comedy mode. Gathering a cast of figures as broad as they are iconoclastic, he stages the image of an event somewhere between preparations for a birthday party and a meeting of tragicomic art conspirators. Like a neo-Dada-Messe, the artist convokes a general assembly in which the trivial rub elbows with the prestigious. Brandishing signs bearing ironic messages, members of the committee including the seven dwarfs, Venus, Michael Jackson, Mona Lisa and the unknown soldiers of ancient bas-reliefs form the chorus making pro-anarchist demands of art and life.
