The Family Photo

Starting line, everyone on tenterhooks,
Clean as whistles, with winsome looks.
Strike a pose, let there be no jealousies,
The camera fulfils our wildest fantasies.

Today is family photo day,
All together, one and all, in May.
Now or never, the family photo will ensure
No one notices if we’re poor.

Starting line, milkshakes on sale,
Grandpa, grandma, fruity and pale.
Let’s squash up on the nice black slate,
Young and old, before it gets late.

Today is family photo day,
Squinting away, one and all, in May.
Now or never, the family photo will ensure
We are monsters of great allure.

It’s the last shot, nobody must cry,
Smile a bit, watch out for red-eye.
Face of an apple and bloated tum,
Fake it now, because the rain will drum.

It’s over, the family photo day.
In this storm, under this old sky of grey,
Let’s sing our family tune again,
Get out of our clothes, out of the rain.
